Syrah Marche IGT Reserve 2015 Terra Argillosa
Refined and spicy red wine. Manual harvest in mid-September, spontaneous fermentation in steel and then a stay on the skins with daily pumping over. Aging in new and old French oak barrels for 24 months. Aging for at least 6 months in the bottle. After this process, Syrah expresses itself with velvety, persuasive notes, full of references to spices and medical herbs.
Suitable for aperitifs, raw meat, roast chicken.
Terra Argillosa is located in Offida in a small valley among gentle hills on the Piceno hills, in the province of Ascoli, in the south of the Marche. Viticulture has been at home here since Roman times. Even today Offida is a terroir of excellence and gives its name to the only DOCG in the south of the Marche.
The earth is compact and rich, strongly clayey. The breeze from the nearby Adriatic Sea caresses the vineyard. A magnificent place, where it becomes spontaneous to let yourself be guided by the rhythm of nature. The vineyards are 180 meters above sea level, facing south and east. The plant is dense, about 5500 plants per hectare. Most of the vineyards are trained with spurred cordon, a small portion with guyot.
Being face to face with the hard and silent work of the countryside, rediscovering many sensations hidden within us; The physical effort, the uncertainty of the result, the satisfaction of having created something unique and handcrafted, the rhythm of nature. Terra Argillosa is born from these sensations.
Its long roots are in the earth, of which we follow the rhythms, the seasons, the teachings. Organic farming is a choice of resistance to consumerism, respect for nature, of improvement of the quality of life trying to better interpret our territory with native and international vines, giving a personal, artisanal, unique vision.
In the wine they tell the nature that surrounds us, the land in which their roots sink, the vineyards they planted, the traditions of our grandparents, the light that illuminates our dreams. They are innovators by combining new knowledge with traditional winemaking techniques.
Terra Argillosa was born as an evolution of PS Winery, a project started in 2007 by Raffaele and Dwight.
A little more than ten years old, Raffaele and Sara, work and life companions, took over the reins of the winery to give new life to the company, to rediscover the true value of work and time.
A change of name, but not of route: the theme of organic, respect for nature and the best expression of the territory are fundamental elements of our way of making wine.
Terra Argillosa has its roots in sharecropping, in the small peasant communities of the early twentieth century, in the traditional Marche economies. A constantly evolving project: they want to make a good wine but also to recreate a tight and intense social fabric, close to the earth, its traditions and a more peaceful life.
